Giving a voice to the Kent bird club
The club is run by a committee of members elected to take on different roles. These club officers and lay committee members are elected each year at the club AGM (annual general meeting). Core functions of President, Chair, club Secretary, Treasurer, Show Secretary, Publicity Officer, Chief Show Steward, Vice-Chair, Show Manager and Patronage Secretary are explained below.
Current officers and lay committee members were elected at the club's AGM on Monday 13 January 2020.

Chair | Steve Allwright | To agree the agenda, to preside at club meetings, and to ensure that business is properly conducted. |
Secretary | Darren Smith | To convene all Society meetings, to keep a written record of the minutes and correspondence, and to work closely with the President, Chair and Treasurer in providing leadership to the Society. |
Treasurer | Kerry Heaver | To conduct the financial business of the club and to provide a financial report for the AGM. |
Show Secretary | Richard Hammond | To organise the applications, book the judges, obtain the relevant licence and liaise with exhibitors on matters of classification. |
Publicity Officer | Roy Jones | To act as the principal contact for the Society's website queries and for ensuring members, potential members and the media know about the Society's activities. |
Vice-Chair | Dave Carpenter | To provide cover in the absence of the Chair. |
Assistant Secretary | Dave Carpenter | To provide support to, and cover in the absence of, the Secretary. |
Show Manager | Kerry Heaver | To take full charge on behalf of the Society at all shows. |
Biosecurity Officer | Kerry Heaver | To ensure birds brought into the show hall adhere to biosecurity recommendations/ requirements. The functions of this role will usually be incorporated into those of the Show Manager. |
Chief Show Steward | Trevor Heaver | To manage stewards in ensuring that both the birds and the environment are continuously monitored during the annual show, as well as providing assistance to the judges as required. |
Trophy Steward | Bryan Rush | To keep a written record of show trophies assigned to each member and ensure that each holder is aware of their responsibility and the date for its return. |
